Presidents Letter

Dear Plainfield Junior Cats Parents,
As PJC starts gearing up for the 2004 season, we will be seeing a few but necessary changes.   The PJC board at the end of last season formed a committee of coaches with the goal of evaluating and improving our program. The committee was made up of 9 coaches with a combined experience in PJC of 50 plus years. The coaches have put in considerable time and effort with hopes of achieving these goals and we would like to thank them for their hard work.   The board believes these changes will improve our program, help to develop our coaches, increase valuable experience to our players, cheerleader and poms for years to come.
After evaluating all of the recommendations presented the board has adopted many of the proposals that we felt will make our organization competitive and increase the skill level of players continuing on to the high school level.  One of the biggest challenges was to try and remove the separation in the organization.  We will all be Plainfield Junior Cats with travel squads (two divisions per level) and multiple in-house teams.  The in-house teams will be adding a fifth level to align with the travel side of football. Traveling football will no longer be green and gold.  The travel teams will be made up of 40 to 45 players that will practice under one head coach and his staff.  From this group the coaching staff will select two levels; both will compete in the Big Ten (TCFL).  One traveling level will compete in the large town conference (Premiere) and the other in the small town conference (Elite).  In the larger or Premier division 18 to 22 players will be picked to play.  The remainder of the players will play in the Elite division.  The lower number of players in each division level will allow the players to fully participate in the games as well as develop better skills in a competitive environment.
